A word from the Chief of Staff

Dr. Julie Maranda

The members of the medical team at Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) are proud to offer patient-centered health care services that are provided with compassion. We are also proud to work and live in a bilingual community. We are devoted to excellence in the health care services we provide and place strong emphasis on teamwork, innovation and leadership.

HGH is set to become a regional full-service hospital when our re-development project is completed in 2020. This means that patients will have access to a wide array of specialized health care services closer to home. Our team of 140 physicians and specialists is already preparing for this new and exciting reality.

Since 2014, we have recruited a number of doctors and specialists. These health care professionals play an important role in reducing the wait time in our emergency department and for certain specialties such as orthopedics and gynecology. Our health care professionals also offer specialized services such as nephrology and otorhinolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) that were previously unavailable in our region.

HGH is officially designated a medical teaching hospital thanks to its affiliation with the University of Ottawa. In addition, we also welcome and teach students in health-care programs from Collège La Cité.

We are proud to participate in the teaching and training of our future health care professionals.
