Prescott-Russell Addiction Service

Prescott-Russell Addiction Service provides counselling for people struggling with alcohol, drugs, medication or gambling-related problems. We offer confidential and specialized services to people 12 years of age and over living in Prescott-Russell.

Why come to us?

If you’re struggling with alcohol, drugs or gambling problems, and are looking for help, we’re here for you. We also help family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues and others troubled by the addiction of someone they care about by offering education or counselling.

How do we help our clients?

Your specific needs and health recovery objectives are our priority. We tailor our interventions to respect your decisions along your journey.

How to access our services?

  • Anyone may ask for help, either for themselves or for someone they care about. For a first appointment, please call 1-844-304-1414. We will connect you with the appropriate service or resource. You may also make a request for service by faxing the self-referral form to 613-632-7450.
  • Physicians, health care professionals and community organizations may refer their clients by faxing a service request to 613-632-7450.

About The Program

During the initial phone call, we will assess your situation and inform you of any wait time. We will also gather additional information such as your list of medications. If needed, we will offer tips to help you manage the situation until your first appointment.

Your appointment

Get ready for your meeting with your counsellor. Bring the following items or information:

  • Health Card
  • List of questions you wish to ask your worker or counsellor.
  • List of all your medications, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, supplements and herbal medicines.
  • List of hospital stays and physicians you have consulted in the past two years in relation with this situation.
  • List of your symptoms and changes in your condition within the past three months.
  • If you wish, a family member or a friend may attend the session.
  • Your worker or counsellor will set a date for your next appointment.
  • There is no fee for the consultation. However, charges may apply if a physician fills out insurance forms.

Follow-ups

  • With your counsellor, you will decide on the frequency of follow-up visits and your therapy objectives.
  • Your counsellor may recommend some exercises to do between your appointments.
  • If needed, your counsellor will follow-up with your family doctor or refer you to other healthcare professionals who may help you.
