The Hawkesbury and District General Hospital Medical Day Unit (MDU) provides medical treatment for patients admitted for periods ranging from three to twelve hours on average.
Types of treatments provided in the Medical Day Unit
- Intravenous medication administration (iron, antibiotics)
- Anticoagulant therapy
- Blood transfusion
- Pain clinic (epidural)
- Installation and care of PICC Line (peripherally inserted central catheter)
- Mantoux test (screening for tuberculosis)
- Wound care and dressing
